I love white kitchens. I’ve always considered adding some color to the walls (via paint), but at the end of the day, white kitchens are where it’s at for me. They feel so clean and organized. Any color just makes it feel cluttered. The kitchen is the one room I can not stand leaving cluttered or messy. So white really works for me. If I want to add color, some great decorations (or appliances, even) will really pop against the whiteness. Bonus: when I get bored of a color scheme, I can just change out decorations. Easy + cheap = win!
Unfortunately, our kitchen is…less than desirable right now. It’s huge, but it’s so ugly. We have these ugly industrial patterned floors (you know the tiles they use in public schools because it’s so cheap? That’s what’s in our kitchen). The pattern on them makes it impossible to tell if the floor is dirty. Seriously. You have to get on your hands and knees and see if a spot belongs in the tile or if it’s dirt. It’s so infuriating. The kitchen also has fake oak cabinets that are hideous. I’ve been dying to paint them white since the day we moved in, if only to get that orange-ish brown color the hell out of my kitchen. The matching trim can be found throughout the entire apartment. I once told Zach I could live here forever if our landlord would let us paint everything and change out the doors and trim. 😛 (Really, I do love this apartment. There are just aspects that grate on my nerves.) And I do feel that way on most days. If we had the money for renovations and could turn the home office into a guest room/nursery, I could stay here forever and be relatively content.
But this was meant as a temporary home and I guess that’s how it’s meant to stay.
If I could change one thing about our apartment, though, it would be our kitchen. In fact, I anticipate changing whatever kitchen we wind up with in our “forever” home. Because white, man. I love white kitchens.
We need to get this out my system, so today I’m going to share my favorite white kitchens with you!
(NOTE: Clicking the photos will take you to the original source.)
All that white paired with that dark floor. *drool*
The lilac chairs just pop in all that white. And they look so sweet and pretty.
Unfortunately, the original blog that posted this has been removed. Sorry.
But those cabinets! They look like windows. So pretty! I’m also a huge sucker for subway tile back splash.
Yellow is on of my favorite colors and I LOVE how it looks against all the white. This achieves a clean look, but gives it warmth and makes it feel cozy.
Unfortunately, I can’t find the source for this either. (Finding sources for home inspiration posts is, as I’ve found, nearly impossible.) But I LOVE that high ceiling! And skylights? Yes, please!
I absolutely adore this whole post (and finally, a post from an actual blogger)! Mostly because her cabinets look almost identical to mine. The only difference is in the knobs. She makes me desperately want to change my own cabinets.
Omg, that tile and open shelving.
I’m posting her header image because you need to see the whole post to get the full impact of her kitchen. I LOVE the yellow in all that white (I’m noticing a theme here…) and the changes she made are just gorgeous! In fact, this is what inspired this post. After reading this, I felt the need to 1) share it, and 2) chronicle it for my own future kitchen updates (if they ever come…).
What does your dream kitchen look like?
