Sweet Orange Sangria is made with moscato, orange tea, and orange slices. This orange sangria is light, citrus-y, and perfect for summer evenings.
A few months ago, I bought some orange tea from Tazo. At first, it was OK. The more I drank, though, the more bitter it seemed to get. The orange was just extremely overpowering. But I didn’t want it to go to waste.
Then I realized I had a bottle of wine in the fridge. Lots of people mix tea and liqueur…why not wine? So I grabbed an orange from the fruit bowl and got to work.
What I came up with is so light and citrus-y. Absolutely perfect for a summer evening on the porch.
Sweet Orange Sangria
- 32 oz boiling water
- 1 bag of Tazo orange tea
- 1 bottle of Moscato
- 1 orange, peeled and sliced
Step 01: In a small saucepan, bring the water to a boil. Add the tea bags. Let steep for 5 minutes or so (whatever the box says). Once it’s finished steeping, dunk the pot into an ice bath. You could just let it cool on it’s own, but an ice bath will make it go faster (it took less than 10 minutes).
Step 02: Drop the orange slices into the bottom of a pitcher. Pour equal parts tea and moscato over the oranges.
Done!
The moscato did a wonderful job of sweetening the tea and balancing out the bitter taste. For that reason, I wouldn’t do this with a dryer wine.
Note: This recipe is for a 4-5 cup pitcher. For your pitcher, measure how much liquid it will hold (I find it easiest to do this by filling it with water and pouring that into a measuring cup). Divide that by half and that’s how much tea and moscato you’ll need. Remember to leave room for the oranges!
Enjoy!

Yum, that’s sounds really refreshing! I’ve almost completely switched from wine to beer in the past year or so, but lately I’ve started craving some fruity (alcoholic) drinks again 🙂
Haha! It seems to be one of those things that comes and goes. I go through beer phases, wine phases, fruity phases. Either way, it’s always awesome. 😛
Well whaddya know? We have orange spice tea and moscato on hand at all times! We just need some oranges and those adorable glasses/vase you have the sangria in! Seriously cute with the ribbon around it! That was so smart!
Definitely trying this!
Thanks so much for sharing!
