Strawberry beermosa beer cocktails are a fun twist on a fruity favorite. Best with a light-tasting or citrus-y beer. These are a GREAT summer cocktail for beer-lovers.
I love a good cocktail in the summer. I especially love a cocktail that’s easy to make and uses few ingredients.
This is, by far, the strangest cocktail I’ve had. Until recently I hadn’t heard of beermosas. But a friend of mine told me they’re a staple in Milwaukee (where she’s from), and since she usually has decent taste in booze, I decided to give them a shot.
Strawberry Beermosa Beer Cocktails
- 1/2 cup strawberry puree
- 1 1/2 cup orange juice
- 1 (12 oz) beer — I used ShockTop Belgian White
Step 01: If you need to make the strawberry puree, do so by adding strawberries to a food processor. One carton of strawberries will make approximately 8 oz (1 cup) of puree. Some people add water to their puree, but I do not.
Step 02: Mix the puree, orange juice, and beer together. You can blend it, shake it, stir it–whatever. As long as it’s completely mixed.
Step 03: Pour into a glass and serve chilled!
Zach had mixed feelings about these (he’ll drink them, but they’re not his favorite thing). I LOVED them! I liked the texture–they look frothy and gritty, but they didn’t actually feel that way. They have the texture of a smoother beer.
Whether or not you could taste the beer? Well, yes and no. If I thought about it, the beer was there. Otherwise, it could have been like putting ginger ale in this. (Which, by the way, is a nice option if you want to make a virgin batch. But then they wouldn’t be beermosas. Not sure what you’d call that, actually….)
The two things I loved most, though, are that they are easy and one 6-pack of beer will make a ton of these. (Just get extra strawberries if you plan to use more than 3-4 bottles of beer.) Each batch makes roughly 3.5 servings, so one 6-pack will be enough to serve 21. Assuming you stick to smaller glasses (making each serving 1 cup).
Would I prefer wine-based mimosas? Depends on my mood. Anyone who drinks both wine and beer knows that sometimes you just want one over the other.
If you don’t enjoy a good beer, though, I would still recommend trying these…but maybe see if you can find a single bottle of beer before buying a whole case. Because whether or not you would like these can go either way.
Check out my apple beermosas and my peach beermosas (the second one is over at Growing Up Gabel)!
Have you ever had beer cocktails?
