I’m going to be visiting Jenn and Brittni so we can work on something (which I’ll be posting about after Christmas…assuming it’s successful) and just hang out because why not? Right now I’m trying to get my pre-travel cleaning done.
What that usually entails for me:
- Making the bed (TOP priority)
- Washing the dishes
- Cleaning off the counters
- Quick wipe-down of the bathroom
- Doing any laundry that will be packed–though that gets done a day or two ahead of time
- Picking up the living room
- Cleaning the litter box
- Topping off the cats’ food and water
If I’m feeling really motivated, I might vacuum and sweep the kitchen floor…though I generally only do that for long trips (that’s assuming it even needs done). This is just for the weekend. But I find that when my apartment is clean when I leave, I’m more excited to come home and I feel calmer when I do come home.
Of course, since Zach isn’t going with me, there are some things I don’t have to worry about, like feeding the cats. He’ll make sure they don’t starve (I hope). But I still like to make sure these things get done so he doesn’t have to worry about them. And I might make him a meal or two, because he will be working a lot over the weekend.
Hopefully I’ll be back with a post or two, though. We should be working on a couple of things.
What routines do you all have to make traveling go a little more smoothly for you?
