Pizza stuffed chicken gives you the taste of pizza without all the added calories! Only 180 calories per serving, high in protein and, of course, amazing. This healthy dish is a family-favorite. Customize it by adding your favorite pizza toppings!
I can’t remember how I wound up with this recipe, but it quickly became an obsession for myself and my sister. She started dating her fiance around the time I introduced her to the concept of stuffing chicken with pizza toppings. For the longest time, this was the only thing she knew how to make, which was good because it became her fiance’s most requested dish.
Since then, my post has been featured on multiple websites and is, by far, my most clicked post. I’m amazed by how much you all love this recipe. But it’s for good reason–delicious healthy food? Yes, please!
It’s also about a simple as you can expect it to be. It’s not very difficult to make, it just requires a lot of handling. I hate handling raw meat, but if you don’t mind it then all the easier for you. 😛
#Pizza stuffed #chicken is 180 calories, high in protein and amazing. Share on XPizza Stuffed Chicken Breasts
- 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts (pounded thin)
- 1/4 tsp salt and pepper
- 1/4 cup pizza sauce + more for topping
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese + more for topping (or use Parmesan for the topping)
- pepperoni
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
Step 01: Preheat the oven to 350°F. Use the blunt side of a meat tenderizer to flatten the chicken. Set aside. In a small bowl, combine pizza sauce, mozzarella, and Italian seasoning.
Step 02: Lay the chicken on a prepared baking sheet (this way you don’t have to worry about transferring the stuffed chicken later). Spread the sauce and cheese mixture over each chicken breast.
Step 03: Roll the chicken as tightly as you can and lay it seam-side down.
Step 04: Spread some extra pizza sauce over the chicken. Sprinkle it with mozzarella and top with pepperoni slices.
Step 05: Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until chicken is cooked through.
I love crispy pepperoni, so I put it on the chicken right before it goes into the oven. If you don’t like yours too crispy, just put it in halfway through cooking.
Nutritional information will mostly depend on the sauce and pepperoni you use–use turkey pepperoni as a leaner option. If you want something exact, I suggest counting the calories of yours. Otherwise, use my calculations as an estimation. (What I counted and what my recipe card counted might be different.)
This is delicious, but I’m not a huge fan of Italian seasoning (it tastes bitter to me). Zach really likes it this way, but next time I think I’ll use basil instead.

Thanks for sharing this recipe at the Pin-It Monday Hop! I just wanted to let you know that I’ll be featuring you for this week’s hop. I have to do some grocery shopping before I can try out this recipe, but I plan to make it for dinner soon! Have a great week 🙂
Wow, thank you! 😀 I hope you like the chicken!
Wow, I would never have thought of making something like this, but I think me and Andy might really like it!
Though if I try it out right now the rolls will definitely be kind of small, because the only thing we have is chicken tenderloins 😛
Hahaha! Tenderloins are too small, though you could sprinkle the seasoning on them and top them with the sauce and cheese. It probably wouldn’t be as good, though. Hopefully you get the chance to try this soon! 😀
See, I kind of had this idea in my head of using two tenderloins, with the stuffing in between them, and then wrapping them together with a strip of bacon 😀
Ohhh! I didn’t think of putting two tenderloins together. That could work! The added bacon sounds delicious. 🙂
This looks delish! Pinned and look forward to trying it!
Thanks, Jen! I hope you like it! 🙂
Oh god.. a pizza stuffed chicken breast is my type of heaven. These look so cheesy and delicious. Thanks for the recipe!
Right!? It’s just as delicious as it sounds! And you can make it as cheesy as you want. (I like lots and lots of cheese. 😛 ) Thanks for stopping by!
I finally tried this recipe this evening. It was absolutely delicious! Thanks so much for sharing.
I am so glad you liked it! Thanks for coming back to let me know! 😀
Have you checked out turkey pepperoni.
Everyone of them I have checked has more fat in the turkey pepperoni then in regular pepperoni.
Use whichever pepperoni you like.
That was the most delicious meal I’ve had in a long time. I’m a current student with no cooking abilities what so ever. The quality was so good and I loved the mozzarella. Thanks for dinner.
I’m glad you enjoyed it, Todd! 🙂
This was great. I put pizza sauce inside and out and stuffed it with Turkey pepperoni, Black Olives, Mozzarella Jack Cheese and Mushrooms. Wow! Thanks for sharing!
That sounds AMAZING! I’ll have to try it that way next time. Thanks for sharing! 🙂
Your Welcome
