You may remember that a couple weeks ago, I went to visit my mom. Apparently everyone in town has been raving about this recipe (that’s only about 1300 people, but still). So much so that the store my mom works for was completely out of both angel food cake mix and pineapple for about a week.
So we decided to see what all the fuss was about. And it is pretty good.
The pictures are a little off, though, since my dad is currently working on the kitchen. The ceiling light was disconnected, so I only had the oven overhead…which means all of my pictures were completely orange. I managed to fix that in Photoshop, but they still look a little…wonky.
Anyway!
What you’ll need:
- 1 box angel food cake mix
- 1 large can crushed pineapple
That’s it!
Step 01: Preheat the oven to 350°F and prepare a 13×9 inch baking pan. Mix the pineapple and angel food cake together. I did this right in the baking pan. (Warning: it will look like foam.)
Step 02: Bake for 20 minutes.
Step 03: Serve!
This tastes very similar to a pineapple upside-down cake. Honestly, I hate angel food cake. It has a chalky texture that really turns me off. So after the first piece, I didn’t go back for more. But my mother and sister ate the whole pan. If you enjoy angel food or even pineapple upside-down cake, give this a try! It seems like it would be good with some whipped cream on top. 🙂
