My husband and I like magazines. Mine are usually easier to keep because they consist of recipes. The others, I read and throw out (or give to someone else). His, we find harder to throw away because they’re interesting or educational. Or it’s something we look at and think, “I want to read that…but not right now.” So I toss it in a basket or a desk drawer for later use. And there it sits…for months.
But you know where magazines get read?
The bathroom? Yeah. And who keeps forgetting to get a magazine rack for the bathroom? This girl.
After a little while of contemplation, though, I decided I didn’t want just an ordinary magazine rack. I wanted something a little different.
You see…I have two cats. And they have a litter box (naturally). And I got tired of seeing said litter box, so about a year ago I got them a litter box house. This one, in fact…except I got it WAAAAAAAY cheaper (omg, so much cheaper, seeing the price on Amazon makes me want to cry) at Petco. Which is weird…because it’s Petco.
Anyway, you see that towel bar hanging off the side? Yeah, I have no use for that. I have lots of towel bars in my bathroom and that one is just too low to the ground and far too close to cat excrement for me to ever consider using a towel that was hanging on it. So I thought, why not hang a magazine holder from the bar? I’ve never seen anything like it, so I figured I would have to make one.
A while later, my sister-in-law, Jessica, texted me. She wanted to take me to Michael’s and get me something for my birthday (which is tomorr0w). So I told her about my idea and she offered to buy the supplies. We searched Michael’s and found nothing. So then we went to Wal-Mart. Nothing. I almost settled on something…but was pretty glad I didn’t because then we went to TJMaxx. I love TJMaxx. It’s in my top three favorite stores of all time. Anyway, I found this:
Cini wants to make sure it’s safe before he allows it into his domain.
I thought about attaching this to it:
But couldn’t figure out a way to do it. So, instead, I’m using it to hang up my scarves.
I did go searching through my toolbox and found these:
(This picture is so much better than the others because I realized halfway through that I needed to turn the flash off. -_-)
Anyway, I don’t know what they are or what they’re for. They came with my tool set. They’re about half an inch long and a quarter of an inch thick. I hooked two of them into the back of the wire box and hung it from the towel bar.
Don’t mind the one toilet paper roll that didn’t fit into my toilet paper holder. -_-
The magazine holder is quite large, which is nice. We have a couple subscriptions and I’m sick of seeing magazines everywhere. 😛
Before you ask, the reason I didn’t put the magazines on the shelf is because I store other things there. I moved them so I could take these pictures. But I have plans to get little baskets for that shelf and store stuff (like razors, maybe wash cloths) in them. I also have stuff on top, like a basket with little air sprays, my husband’s razor set, an oil burner, a box with my hair bands and bobby pins in it, and my husband’s deodorant, after shave, and cologne. So no room for magazines. (Just in case you were wondering that, as well.)
But I love this thing. It is exactly what I needed. And I realize this is a budget site and I usually tell you what I paid for things. But since this was a birthday present, I’m not telling you how much it cost. That would be rude. 🙂
