Orange Creamsicle Cookies are soft cookies made with cream cheese, with a zesty orange flavor.
Zach loves orange Dreamcicles.
Maybe a little too much.
So when I saw this recipe for lemon sugar cookies, I knew I had to try it. But I didn’t have any lemon extract and my lemon juice had expired (last year, apparently -_-). But! I had some orange extract leftover from last winter when I made my mother-in-law’s Dreamcicle fudge recipe. And then I thought, “Dreamcicle cookies!” Yum.
My sister came over and we got to work. And they are so delicious.
The recipe is basically the same one Craving Chronicles posted, except with orange.
Orange Creamsicle Cookies
- 2 ounces cream cheese
- zest of 1 large orange
- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 1/2 cups sugar, plus more for rolling
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon orange juice
- 1 tablespoon milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon orange extract
- 2 1/4 cups flour
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
Step 01: Preheat oven to 350°F. Zest and juice your orange. Cream together the cream cheese, butter, sugar, and zest. Add the remaining wet ingredients and blend well.
Step 02: Sift together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Slowly add it to the wet ingredients and blend until completely combined.
Step 03: Roll your dough into 2-inch balls. Roll in sugar until completely covered.** Place on a prepared baking sheet and flatten slightly.
Step 04: Bake for 11-13 minutes. Cool and enjoy!
Yum.
These are a really nice spring/summer cookie. They taste just like orange creamsicles!
**If you’re a fan of combining orange and cinnamon scents around fall and Christmas, then you will LOVE rolling these cookies in cinnamon sugar, rather then just sugar. Give it a try, it’s delicious!
What is your favorite summer treat?

Hahaha, I guess you have to make them again 😛 They look delicious, even though I’ve never tried dreamcicles.
Imagine vanilla ice cream with some orange flavoring and you have a dreamcicle. 😛 I was never a huge fan, but the cookies were good!
My dad is a huge dreamsicle fan too. He would love these!
