So Monday I was all excited that my plants were doing so well.
And then I accidentally put too much food in the soil. I don’t want to go into details about how that happened….
Basically the advice I was given was to flood the plants by watering them three times a day for a couple days–that should help get the food away from the roots. Wait two weeks to see if the plants start looking healthy again.
So that’s what I’m doing.
I noticed they were sick yesterday morning, but today they’re much worse. I expect them to get even worse, though, due to the over-watering. But since I started yesterday, I’ll only do it again today and possibly tomorrow.
Let me correct myself–they’re much worse today…in one sense. In another way, they’re looking better. The zucchini and string beans look awful right now. The green peppers, tomatoes, and lemon tree saplings are looking better. The strawberry is looking worse all around…except that the one strawberry that grew on it is now a pinkish color (yay!). The basil is looking worse than it did when I took the picture yesterday morning, but better than it was a few hours after the picture (I guess the damage took a while to set in for the basil). The thyme…looks dry, actually. I have issues with thyme, mint, and parsley, for some reason…. I find them difficult to keep alive.
Zucchini:

I can’t decide if this is better or worse, actually…. Some leaves are standing up on their own again. Others are completely dead. Hm….
String Beans:

Basil:
Yesterday
This is before it started drooping. For a while, I thought the basil kind of liked the extra food. This is the perkiest it’s been since I planted it. But then….
Today
Better than yesterday afternoon…still worse than yesterday morning. Ugh.
Strawberry:
Yesterday
Today
I suppose it’s looking better, now that I see the pictures so close together.
I wish I could get it to grow more than one strawberry…. The others keep turning brown.
Tomato:
Yesterday
Today
I know it’s from a different angle, but I think it looks a little fuller. I’m pretty confident in my tomato.
Green Bell Pepper:

Today
Obviously the pepper didn’t suffer much. The leaves were paler yesterday. Other than that…about the same. I did have a flower on it yesterday, but it fell off.
As for the leaning…I stuck a kabob stick in there and now it’s fine.
In about two weeks, we’ll see if I was successful in bringing these plants back to life. If not, the next advice was to replant. I really don’t want to do that. -_- The way they’re looking today has me hopeful, though.
