Homemade turkey meatballs are delicious, soft, and flavorful. Use them in soups, in pasta, or as party appetizers. You can also freeze them and use them later.
A long time ago (try more than a year ago), I promised to share the recipe for our homemade meatballs with you. But I never did, did I? For the record, I did try. I just couldn’t seem to get the pictures to come out right. But I’ve finally done it!
Zach found this recipe a long time ago in one of our cookbooks. We’ve changed it over the years, but they are still completely delicious. These are fairly basic, so they’ll work with anything. You can add more seasonings to them (or even stuff them with cheese!) if the meal you’re preparing them for needs it.
This was actually the first time I had ever made them. (Zach usually does it.) So they were a little less than perfect. But still tasty!
So after over a year of waiting, here is the recipe for our favorite meatballs!
Homemade Turkey Meatballs
- 1/2 cup bread crumbs, plus more if necessary
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan
- 2 tbsps minced parsley
- 1 lb ground turkey
- salt
- garlic powder
- pepper
Step 01: Preheat oven to 400*F. In a medium-sized bowl, combine everything except the meat. (Anything without a measurement is “to taste.”)
Step 02: Crumble the meat on top and mix well. Add more breadcrumbs if necessary. The mixture should feel soft, but firm, and not sticky. (I added too much, which you may notice in the next few pictures.)
Step 03: Shape into balls measuring about 1 inch in diameter. Place on a baking sheet.
Step 04: Bake uncovered for 20 minutes.
Homemade turkey meatballs are delicious, versatile, and easily frozen for later! Share on XThese meatballs are delicious, soft, and flavorful. Definitely better than frozen (what isn’t?). 😛 They’re also pretty versatile! Use them in soups (like this tortellini soup), in pasta, or as party appetizers (they’ll hold up well in a crock pot with your favorite sauce–maybe try them in a slow cooker with sriracha!). You can also freeze them and use them later. 🙂

I love turkey meatballs. Pork gives me a fierce migraine. Who knew turkey was so adaptable.
I agree! There’s just something about ground beef and pork that doesn’t sit well. Turkey and chicken are definitely the way to go. 🙂
Oh now, how fabulous and delicious do these look?! Healthier meatballs too. I would have mine with homemade cranberry sauce… yum!
Thanks so much for sharing.

That sounds delicious, Jennifer! I think I need to try that. Thanks for stopping by! 🙂
Yum! Do you think it would work with another type of cheese? I’ve never been a huge fan of Parmesan 😛
Definitely! I would recommend finely grating it, though.
They look so easy!! Would love to have you share it at the What’s for Dinner Link up!

I always use ground beef, so this will be a nice change and healthier! They sound great.
