Does anyone else here hate prepping ingredients for cooking? Everyone? Yeah. Me too. So when Jen from Top Ate on Your Plate told me about her five techniques that she uses to make cooking prep go faster, I jumped all over it. So here she is today to share then with you!

I am thrilled and honored that Chelsey asked me to do a guest post on her site. Like Chelsey, my love affair with cooking and my interest in wine began shortly after getting married and quickly became addictive. The more I cooked, the more I LOVED to cook. The more wine I sampled, the more my palate matured. Six years ago, I was a Boone’s-Farm-drinking, minced-garlic-out-of-the-jar kind of gal (I hate admitting this). Today I am a new woman who obsesses over fresh farmer’s market finds, can’t turn off the Food Network and swirls, sniffs and sips the deepest red wines I can find. Under the influence of some close family members and Rachel Ray’s 30 Minute Meals (I have an unhealthy obsession with this show), I’ve developed a set of quick prep techniques that I use almost daily (not Fridays, I don’t cook on Fridays…period). The five techniques outlined below not only reduce my kitchen prep time but also make cleanup for The Hubbster a cinch! It’s important to note that while each of these techniques is a time saver, the best way to make the time you spend in the kitchen pass quicker is to have fun. Also similar to Chelsey, I like to do so by cooking with wine. Sometimes the wine even makes it from my glass into the recipe. Enjoy!

Great tips! Why didn’t I think to freeze chicken for 30 minutes before handling it?
Right!? That one blew my mind.
I think this post is my favorite of the bunch. I especially like the lemon and garlic tips – I hadn’t thought of those before. And I already use the other three techniques 🙂
Yeah! The only two I had ever heard of were the avocados and the onion (though I don’t eat onions). This post was very helpful!
