Anytime I need a refreshing dessert I know people will love, I make grape salad. Apparently, the words “grape” and “salad” make people think it’s healthy, despite the ingredients. So they inhale it. 😛
This is the perfect dessert to take to a barbecue. It’s juicy and not too heavy.
You can also substitute the grapes with any fruit! Strawberries are a wonderful substitution.
So if you need a cool summer dessert that will keep you from having a heat stroke in the kitchen, this summer grape salad recipe is just the thing! Blend, mix, and you’re done!
The Best Summer Grape Salad
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 8 oz sour cream or plain green yogurt
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2-2 1/2 lbs seedless grapes
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup chopped walnuts
Step 01: Use a hand mixer to blend cream cheese and sugar in a large bowl. Add sour cream and vanilla. Stir in the grapes. Top with brown sugar and pecans. Refrigerate for 8 hours or overnight.
So easy. The brown sugar and walnuts are optional.
Despite the instructions, I almost never chill this overnight. I eat it as soon as I make it and it’s delicious. You can also leave the grapes out and just dip fruit in the cream cheese mixture.
I should also note that, despite popular opinion, this isn’t healthy. Sugar isn’t good for you and this has a ton of it. But, hey, you only live once.

That does look like a perfect way to end a BBQ. I am going to keep believing that grapes and salad make it healthy. You can’t convince me otherwise!
