These Constellation Embroidery Patterns are 20×20-inch printable patterns that you can resize and use for any constellation project.
Since I was a kid, I have loved the stars. It helped that I was super nerdy and really into Sailor Moon. But the astronomy lessons we had in our general science classes were always my favorite, which my grades tended to reflect. I read as many astronomy books as the school librarian would let me have. By the time I was eleven, I knew all the planets–in order–what their signs were, many of their moons, and various other facts that I’ve long since forgotten.
I’ve mentioned before that the reason I got into embroidery was because of this table runner at Design Sponge. Now that I’ve figured out the basics, I’m dying to do some constellation projects.
I have a few in mind, but I knew I needed some patterns. Turns out there aren’t a lot of printable constellation embroidery patterns out there! So I decided to make some. And then I figured that many of you may be having the same problems, so I’m sharing them!
The files are each 20 x 20 inches, but the constellations are all a little smaller than that. You can put them in an editing program (like PicMonkey) and resize them, though. Since they’re composed of dots and lines, making them bigger shouldn’t ruin their quality too much.

Not sure which sign you need? Here’s a guide:
Aquarius January 20 – February 18
Pisces February 19 – March 20
Aries March 21 – April 19
Taurus April 20 – May 20
Gemini May 21 – June 20
Cancer June 21 – July 22
Leo July 23 – August 22
Virgo August 23 – September 22
Libra September 23 – October 22
Scorpio October 23 – November 21
Sagittarius November 22 – December 21
Capricorn December 22 – January 19
I used Top Astronomer’s constellation guides to find something basic. The biggest reason I went with these was because I loved the idea of including stars around the constellations. For now, I’ve only done the twelve zodiac signs because those were the ones I originally wanted.
All I did was stick them in Photoshop, resize them to 20 inches, create a new layer, and trace the constellation onto that layer. Then I deleted the image and was left with only the transparency. These actually didn’t take me very long to make.
I have a few projects in mind for these, but I’m curious to know what you would all use them for. Let me know in the comments!
What’s your sign?

I am trying to download a few of the constellation patterns, but when I open your links, it says “the owner has disabled the download function.” I can’t figure out another way to print them. Help!
I will be making them as birthday patches for all of my friends who are more punk rock than me
Hi! I’ve been looking for constellation embroidery patterns and this looks awesome, but they aren’t showing up! Have you removed the images from your flickr account? Unfortunately all I see are a bunch of black squares =( Tried looking it up on phone and laptop, but same thing.
Hi! I don’t know why that happened! But I have replaced all of the images with the correct files. Thanks!
