I’ve had a brown tray sitting on my coffee table for a while. It holds books we’re working on, a nail file, eye drops, lip gloss, and a pad and pen for that moment we realize we need something from the store. I like to keep it all handy in this tray, because I frequently realize I need them but I don’t feel like getting up and searching for them. If I don’t keep them in the tray, who knows where they could be (hint: in the vortex that is my purse).
The brown color was really boring, though, so I decided it needed a change.
I went with a spring green (“Light Green” from Craft Smart). Though it looks more white than green in this picture.
What I used:
- 1 tube light green Craft Smart paint
- painters tape
- brushes
- clear spray finish
Step 01: Clean the tray and then line the areas you don’t want painted with painters tape. I wanted to keep the brown wicker-like stuff.
Step 02: Paint!
Step 03: Wait for the paint to dry and then remove the painters tape carefully. If you’re happy with the way it looks, spray it with a clear finish.
Step 04: Put back on the coffee table!
Isn’t that so much better? The lighter paint really makes the brown parts pop…and it looks pretty nice in my living room. I needed a little more color.
