A mixture of different flours and sugars gives these chewy chocolate chip cookies a sweet and savory flavor. A definite family favorite!
Who doesn’t love a good chocolate chip cookie? Of all the hundreds of cookie recipes available, chocolate chip is always a tried and true crowd pleaser.
But I discovered this recipe when Zach and I were first married and it has become one of my go-to cookie recipes. It’s delicious, it’s easy to make, and it makes a ton of cookies. See, I have this little problem where a recipe’s yield is always twice what I wind up getting out of it. (For instance, I might get 10-12 cookies out of a recipe that’s supposed to yield 24.) With this recipe, I usually get about 24-36 cookies. Without even trying.
Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies
- 1 cup (2 sticks) softened butter
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups wheat flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tbsp vanilla
- 1 (12 oz) bag of chocolate chips
Step 01: Preheat oven to 350°F. Cream together butter, both sugars, and eggs until light and fluffy. Add dry ingredients and vanilla and beat until well-combined. Fold in the chocolate chips. The dough will look crumbly and dry–this is normal. Refrigerate for a minimum of 2 hours, but no more than 24 hours.
Step 02: Roll the dough into tablespoon-sized balls and place on a prepared cookie sheet. Bake for 8-12 minutes, or until the edges of the cookies are just barely beginning to brown.
Step 03: Remove and cool for five minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
This is one of my favorite recipes (my other favorite is the recipe on the back of the Nestle Tollhouse bags). It’s completely dangerous, though, because it makes so many and I will eat them all. Especially when they’ve just come out of the oven, because they’re just so gooey and chocolate-y. Yum.
On that note, some words of wisdom from my recipe keeper:
A balanced diet is a cookie in each hand.

Agreed.
Enjoy!

Wonderful! 😀
Yum! These do look dangerous, but if a cookie in each hand is a balance diet I could very easily be on the right track!
Haha! Right? Best diet ever.
