It might be sad that I’m only now covering this, since I made it as a Christmas gift. 😛 But since we didn’t get to trade gifts with the intended recipients until…three weeks ago, I had to wait. Just in case. (On another Christmas-related note, I was cleaning out my cedar chest and I found the Christmas cards I bought and forgot to send. Oops!)
On to the scrub.
Brown Sugar & Coconut Oil Body Scrub
- 4 oz mason jar
- 3 tbsps brown sugar
- 1 tbsp coconut oil
- 1 tsp vitamin E oil (optional)
- 1-2 drops essential oil (optional)
Step 01:Â Melt the coconut oil and mix it with the brown sugar. Stir in the vitamin E oil, if using. If you want a rougher scrub, add more brown sugar. For a liquid scrub (like an exfoliating wash), use more oil.
That’s it! Store it in the fridge for up to 2 months.
If you don’t want sugar (it can get sticky), you can substitute with salt. However, I recommend sugar because it’s more gentle than salt, and brown sugar is better for sensitive skin. Either way, try to use small granules. Larger ones will tear up your skin.
ETA: I THOUGHT I said this, but apparently not. You should only exfoliate once a week. It’s unhealthy to do it more often than that.
