On Monday I talked about how to make apple cider. The reason I did this, as you may recall, is because I was going to try one of my fall slow cooker recipes. I managed to find one that I really liked, except that I added waaaay too much cloves. I’ve adjusted the measurements so you hopefully don’t do that. 😛
What you’ll need:
- 4 cups of apple cider
- the peel of 1/4 of an orange
- the peel of 1/4 of a lemon
- 1/3 cup cranberry juice
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
- 1/8 tsp cloves
- 2 tsps cinnamon
Step 01: Cut you citrus fruit and put it in some cheesecloth or an empty tea bag with the spices. Wrap the cheesecloth tightly, so it can’t open, and put it on the bottom of the crock pot. (I did not do this, so trust me when I say you should.) Put everything else over the cheesecloth.
Step 02: Cook on High for 1 hour. Reduce heat to Low and cook for another 3 hours. Serve warm!
It’s quite easy to make, but also easy to screw up if you add too many spices. Also, the reason you should put everything in the cheesecloth is because it kind of turns syrupy at the bottom of the pot and the cheesecloth should keep it from draining out into your container, if you have to put it back in the fridge.
This made my apartment smell fantastic, though!
