Apple Beermosas are beer cocktails with a fall twist. Use your favorite non-hoppy fall beer to customize to your tastes. This is a great cocktail for football season!
The end of August is here! Which means fall is coming! I’m so psyched. Last year, I wasn’t ready for summer to end. This year, I really am. It hasn’t been much worse than last summer (the bugs in particular have been…oddly quiet), I’m just in the mood for cool weather.
Not that we’ll be seeing any of that in Georgia for a while. A girl can dream, though.
As always, I’ll be doing a full month of pumpkin recipes in September. This year, though, it occurred to me that I don’t really do much with apples. So I’ve been making an attempt to remedy that–first with my apple pie and now with these apple beermosas.
I can’t remember why I decided apple beermosas would be good. I’ve done strawberry and peach, but apple seemed…weird, somehow.
But then I tried it. And this has to be my favorite batch so far. In fact, I have no need to experiment with this recipe any further (though I have plans to, don’t worry! Beermosas are too fun). I just want apple beermosas from now until forever.
Apple Beermosas: The Perfect Fall Beer Cocktail
- 12 oz Shocktop Applecrisp (or a non-hoppy beer of your choice)
- 12 oz (1 1/2 cups) Simply Apple juice or apple cider
- 1 apple, sliced
Step 01: Cut the apple into slices or chunks and drop them into the bottom of a carafe/pitcher.
Step 02: Pour 1 beer over the apples, slowly. Try not to let the head build too much—the best approach is to tilt the pitcher and let the beer slide down the side into the bottom.
Step 03: Slowly pour the apple juice/cider into the pitcher. Stir gently to mix well and serve!
This recipe will serve two people. If you want to make a large batch, mix together an entire 6-pack of Shocktops and 1 whole bottle of Simply Apple (which I think is 1 liter?). That will serve roughly 12 people…if you’re drinking a beer’s worth of it. Zach and I went through this pretty quickly on our own, though. Mostly because it was delicious.
This is a little different from other beermosas I’ve made, because I didn’t puree any fruits to add to it. Instead, I did this the old-fashioned way. Meaning I put chunks of fruit in the carafe and then poured the beermosa over it. I like the texture better this way, though Zach likes the texture of the pureed fruit in the others. So chock that one up to personal preference.
The apple is DEFINITELY my favorite! It was incredibly smooth and the beer gave it a nice flavor and texture. Clearly, apple and beer apparently go really well together.
Since this is a fall drink, I’m sure many of you will be tempted to use warm apple cider for this. To be honest, I don’t recommend that, mostly because of the beer. The taste of the beer is light, but it’s still there…and warm beer simply isn’t good.
We’ll definitely be drinking these all season!
What are you looking forward to the most this season?
